What is Microsoft ToDo on Windows 11? How to Use it?

Microsoft ToDo is a feature introduced by the company to allow the users to shift from their trusty paper notebooks to a digital ToDo list. For beginners, getting used to the program might take a while but since it is super-convenient, you will get a hang of it in no time. The program allows you to schedule and keep track of your tasks wherever you go on your laptop or mobile phone. So, let’s dig a bit deeper and see how you can use it to make things easier for yourself.

Download the App & Sign-in

Microsoft ToDo comes pre-installed with Windows 11 and no separate downloading is required. However, if you had uninstalled it earlier, you can re-download it again from the Microsoft Store. To re-download the app, open the Microsoft Store from the centralized Start Menu, search for “Microsoft ToDo” and start downloading.

The app is also available for download on other operating systems such as iOS, Android, and Windows Phone. Therefore, all you need to do is visit the play store, search for the app, download it and then install it.

What Can ToDo Do?

The interface of ToDo is as easy as it can get. You have different task viewing options on the left, the tasks themselves in the middle, and additional relevant information on the right.

The tasks that you create are displayed on the left. The viewing options are all pre-made and you cannot create your own unique view. In addition to that, the application also features filters that allow the user to see particular tasks.

ToDo is a highly organized and detailed oriented application. It aims to transfer all the tasks digitally, which are otherwise written on pieces of paper. As a result, you can create sub-tasks of tasks and also create goals that will help complete the ultimate project.

From a user’s perspective, you have a clear view of the tasks and remain updated and on track with everything you need to complete or achieve on a daily basis.

Additional Features

ToDo allows its users to create recurring tasks but you cannot create them in a natural language like “every other Friday”. To do that, you can just add a star marking the task as important but then again, the application features no priority gradations. This means that a task with the star is just important, neither extremely important nor slightly important, just important.

Even though the # symbol is an impressive tag feature offered by the application as well but it will not display the entire tag list that you have created.

In addition to that, ToDo favors and supports some type of collaboration by allowing users to invite people using invitation links or email but they must have an account to see them.

ToDo in the Future

Although Microsoft’s ToDo lacks several features and is behind in the race of digital task managing apps, the company is working at its full potential to cover the gaps. The absence of certain basic features makes it hard for users to prefer it over its competitors.

However, the upside to all this is that ToDo is powered by Microsoft. When it comes to clever integrations, there is hardly any company that can beat it. So, while ToDo might be having a tough time attracting users at the moment, it has the potential to turn the tables in the future.
