Monster Energy Supercross – The Official Videogame Lags and Freezes

When it comes to supercross, Monster Energy Supercross: The Official Videogame is out there in its own league. Being the official supercross game, it comes with all the big names of the real world like Ryan Dungey, Ken Roczen and Cole Seely to name a few.

This game allows gamers to enjoy the world’s most competitive off-road motorcycle racing championship. The tracks are all deduced from the 2017 season which gives the game a very realistic and an immersive feel.

Speaking from a visual standpoint, the Unreal Engine 4 and the photographic techniques allow for the capturing of the above-mentioned stars, to name a few. In total, there are a total of 60 players. The stadiums are pretty realistic, and most importantly, the bikes also have features that make them sound, look and feel real. The modes in the game come in two main categories, offline and online. One can test their racing skills in the offline mode to prepare for the online challenge which is certainly more challenging. There are four different modes in the offline category and these are Single Event, Official Championship, Career Mode and Time Attack.

Issues Faced During Gameplay

Apart from the gameplay undergone a significant amount of hardwork, the game does come with some issues that many gamers have reported. The first impressions given by many are that the game is buggy and has many glitches. Having been bumped by other riders, the camera glitches. FPS also drop every now and then which can also be the cause for the lags faced by many. Also, the Artificial Intelligence factor of the game is not so intelligent! This is because other bikers tend to make decisions that they should have done better without. Recurring issues like save game, sound, menu options freeze often and several other bugs have made this game a horrendous launch.

The sound bug just mentioned above is regarding that sometimes when the race starts, the only sound gamers can hear is that of the crowd cheering. No sound of the bikes can be heard. Indeed, there are no complaints regarding the visuals of the game which tend to be fantastic but these bugs are what make it a huge nuisance. A very specific complaint made by one professional gamer of this game is that the handling of the bike is something that could have been much better. When you are at a dead stop, you cannot lock the front brakes to be able to swing the rear of the bike. This helps when the player is stuck in a big pile up.

In the online mode, one bug being mentioned is that in a 250 career, the rider can be seen riding a 450 for some strange reason. This also leads to another problem which is being unable to customize 250, because of the fact that it changes to 450 every time. The same user also reported that they are not able to back out of the Career mode screen. This leads to them having to force quit the game and start over.

One major and a very common issue that many players have reported is that the game freezes quite often. In trying to observe the pattern with which this happens, most have said it occurs every time they play Career mode and the progression has reached 68%. The same issue persists despite the user verifying the integrity of the installation files.
