How to Record Zoom, Team & Skype Video Calls

Zoom, Google Team, and Skype offer a great platform to conduct live meetings and get in touch with your friends, family members, and colleagues. In times of pandemics like this, educational institutes conduct their classes online and students can record them for revision. This is a great way to catch up on important things while you are busy. Let’s discuss how you can record Zoom, Team, and Skype calls.

Zoom

Zoom allows its users to record calls in both cases of being free or paid users. However, if you are a paid user, you can only download and save the files to your computer. You cannot save the recording to the cloud. For that, you are going to need to pay for one of the company’s offerings.

If you are hosting a meeting or call yourself, you need to click the Record button located on the toolbar and the recording will start straightaway. But if you are a paid user, you will need to choose from computer recording or Cloud recording.

Once the recording has begun, you can stop it at your convenience. If you have decided to go with computer recording, the file will be saved as a .mp4 file and saved to your computer at the meeting’s conclusion. However, if you have chosen cloud recording, Zoom will send you a message about receiving an email when the recording is ready. Upon receiving the email, you can access the recording which is protected by a password for privacy reasons.

Google Meet

There was a time when G-Suite customers could record Meet calls for a limited amount of time. It was a time when Google offered a special package to its customers. However, this recording feature is no longer available for individual users today. It is only offered to the Enterprise customers. You can schedule and conduct meetings on Google Meet but you cannot record the calls at the moment. Don’t panic, we have got you covered.

Once the meeting has started, click the three vertical dots located on your screen’s lower right hand. A menu will pop up and you will be able to see the recording option. Click the Recording option and it will begin. If you wish to stop the recording, click the vertical dots again and click stop recording.

The recordings will be saved in a folder called “Meet Recordings” in the meeting organizer’s drive. You don’t necessarily have to be the host/ organizer of the meeting or call to receive an email with the recording.

Skype

Skype has a simple and straightforward recording. As soon as you call someone else and they answer it, you will see a “Start Recording” option located in the call window’s bottom left corner.

If you wish to stop the recording, click the “Stop Recording” option. The option is going to be exactly where the “Start Recording” option was located. Once the meeting/call ends, you will be able to access the recordings through the Skype app and download them to your computer. Plus, the recordings will remain for 30 days.
