How are Duplicate JPEG Files Created?

  • We all move JPEG files from one location to another. While some images are downloaded into the Downloads folder, we also move them to other destinations resulting in many duplicate copies.
  • When you install programs on your PC, new files are temporarily extracted to temporary locations. The setup program copies those files from temporary directory to installation directory. These files remain undeleted after setup program completes its operation. These files contain the JPEG files and consume several MBs of your hard disk.
  • There is a chance we might mess it up when we move files from one folder to other. In some cases, cloud backup folders also give a home to the redundant images.
  • Photos collection programs such as the Picasa, Windows photo gallery also need to be trimmed down to avoid the occurrence of identical jpeg files.

How does Clone Files Checker Work?

With Clone Files Checker, designed by Sorcim, you’ve no reason to worry about duplicate photos. It recovers tens of GBs of space with its powerful scan and algorithm. Clone Files Checker works in five steps.

  1. Firstly, you’ll have to add new drives or folders you wish to be scanned. Remember, if you’re not certain which folder or drive contains duplicate JPEG files, simply add all partitions of your hard disk.
  2. Now it’s time to specify which file types you want to be scanned. Example, the All Files option scans documents, music, videos, images, compressed files. On the contrary, with the Custom option, you only choose specific file types, e.g. only Images. Here, in this case, we select Custom option and then select the Images checkbox to scan for JPEG files.
  3. Start the scan process now. It may take a while. Remember, there will be a bit of waiting depending on the size of the selected drive(s) or folder(s).
  4. Now that you’ve two options on your screen- Quick-Fix and Review & Fix. We recommend Review & Fix for advanced users. If you’re not a tech-savvy guy, select Quick-Fix.

  5. The process in the steps ahead for Fix Wizard is absolutely straightforward. For the Review & Fix route, click Select Duplicates to select which kind of files you want to retain (oldest, newest, most modified, least modified etc).
  6. Finally, click Select Action to choose between deleting the duplicate JPEG files permanently or moving them to a folder.
