The Battle: Windows 10 Laptop V/s ChromeBook

As everyone knows, Windows laptops’ sales outnumber ChromeBooks. Microsoft Windows is used by over 1.5 Billion people in every corner of the world. Experts predict that PC shipments all over the world may decline by 3.3 and 1.8 per cent in 2015 and 2016 respectively. Some people believe changing tech trends can provide room for laptop alternatives such as ChromeBook.

The release of Windows 10, could appeal users to upgrade their machines. It will run across an incredibly broad set of devices- from Personal Computers (PCs) to servers to enterprise data centers. So far the feedback received from public about Windows 10 Preview build is almost positive, according to a senior research analyst at IDC. Windows 10 is expected to perform well in the US market, however, there is bit uncertainty whether businesses will immediately upgrade their machines or prefer staying with earlier versions.

The top laptop manufacturer companies Dell and Lenovo, are bit anxious about Microsoft’s upcoming operating system. Both the companies expressed an opinion that customers are anxious to upgrade to Windows 10 because of the controversies aroused in previous version Windows 8. One of the major controversies was that of absense of the Start Menu in Windows 8.1.

On the other hand, Chromebooks are known as budget-saving laptops with great, interesting features. They are available under $250 so mostly popular among college students. Certainly Windows 10 faces a tough challenge from them. Chromebooks are gaining strength so it helped increasing their sales in the fourth quarter of the year 2014.

To compete with low-cost Chromebooks, Microsoft introduced several cheap laptops and desktop computers compatible with Windows 8- starting at under $200. Though they are packed with great features, they do lack normal storage. They are built for people who cannot afford laptops with heavy resources. Microsoft-designed cheap laptops well equipped with cloud services to store your files on the Internet. If you're ready to store your documents online, you won't have to worry about lower storage. These laptops are best for surfing the Internet, chatting with friends on Facebook, G+ and using other social media sites. On January 21st Microsoft will formally announce in an event in Washington, whether they will adapt Windows 10 to battle with their tough competitor- Chromebook.
