Diagnose Internet Connectivity Issues

Frequent disconnections, unstable Internet causes problem receiving/ sending email messages. Diagnose the problem you’re experiencing with the Internet connection. To do so, follow the steps given below:

  • Click the Start button.
  • Click Control Panel | Network and Internet | Network and Sharing Center.
  • Click Troubleshoot Problems link.
  • The Troubleshooter wizard opens. Follow it yourself.

If the problem still persists even after you run the Troubleshooter, please contact your Internet Service Provider. Outlook email receiving/ sending error will not occur again.

 

Run Outlook in Safe Mode

Safe Mode is a type of loading an application where plugins are disabled. Third party plugins often results in runtime errors whenever they’re incapable for supporting current system specifications. Run your email client program in the Safe Mode to diagnose Outlook Error 0x800ccc0f.

  • Click the Start button.
  • Type “outlook.exe /safe” in the Search box.
  • Press ENTER

Re-create Email Account Profile

Email account profile is a set of configurations specified during the first time you open Microsoft Office Outlook/ Outlook Express. It contains settings such as your email id, display name, password, SMTP settings, server authentication settings and so on.

 

Failure to load any of the important information given above may cause Outlook sending/ receiving error. The solution is to delete and re-create the email account profile.

  • Click Start | Control Panel.
  • Are your Control Panel items shown in the Category View? If so, click the View by | Large Icons.
  • Click Mail | Mail Setup.
  • Mail Setup dialog opens. Click the General tab.
  • Select your current email account profile and click the Remove button.
  • Click the Add button.
  • Type a name for your new profile, click OK.
  • Click Add a new email account | Next.
  • Select your email account server, click Next.
  • Provide the valid account information prompted in the boxes. Click Next | Finish | OK.
 

Change Antivirus Real-Time Protection Rules

The term “Rules” is used for the programs specified to either include/ exclude from the real-time protection.

 

Outlook Error 0x800ccc0f appears when the antivirus real-time protection blocks your email client. It interrupts attempts made to connect to any network servers.

 

Change the real-time protection rules by modifying the settings properly. Exclude Outlook from the list of protected programs. If there is any option, exclude the whole directory containing Outlook program files.

 

Excluding Outlook from Avast Antivirus Protection:

Note: The actual file paths may vary depending on the directory where Outlook is installed and the version you’re using. Apply your knowledge to select the right path

  • Double click Avast Antivirus desktop icon.
  • Click the Settings link. (Left hand side on the top)
  • Click the Global Exclusions tab.
  • File Paths textbox would appear. Click the Browse button.
  • Locate and add following file paths:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\OUTLOOK.EXE
    C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe
  • Click OK.
 

Reinstall Outlook

Outlook program files can be corrupt. Reinstalling the program will replace corrupt files with the original versions. An installation media is required.

  • Insert Microsoft Office 2010 installation disc.
  • Close the AutoRun dialog, if appears.
  • Click the Start button, select Control Panel | Programs | Uninstall a Program.
  • Right click Microsoft Office 2010, select the “Change” option.
  • Select “Add or Remove Features” option and click the Continue button.
  • For the “Microsoft Outlook” option, click the drop down box and select “Not Available” option.
  • Click the Next button.
  • Let the uninstall process finish. Restart your computer.
  • Go to the root directory of the installation media you have inserted.
  • Double click the SETUP.EXE
  • Select “Add or Remove Features” option, click Continue button.
  • For the “Microsoft Outlook” option, click the drop down box and select “Will be installed”.
  • Click the Next button.
