Reinstall the Program

Your Java files seem to be corrupt. Uninstall and reinstall process would replace corrupt files with their original versions. Do following steps on your Windows 8 computer:

  • Click the Start button.
  • Click the Search Box located at the right hand side of your Start screen.
  • Type "Uninstall a Program" (without quotes) in the Search Box.
  • Click the Settings icon.
  • Select it from the Search Results.
  • Right click Java from the list of installed programs, select Uninstall option. Follow the wizard and restart your machine.
  • Visit the official website, download the setup once again and go through the installation.

Enable Automatic Detection of LAN Settings

Proxy settings consisting of LAN configurations might be the reason behind Java error. Enable automatic detection of LAN settings, if it is already disabled.

  • Open Internet Explorer.
  • Press Alt key. Click the Tools menu, select Internet Options.
  • Click the Connection tab | LAN Settings.
  • Uncheck "Use a proxy server for your LAN" checkbox.
  • Check-up "Automatically detect settings" checkbox.
  • Click OK | OK.

Change Environment Variables

Environment Variable settings are related to temporary files and user profile. You’re receiving error because of problems with the current environment variable settings.

  • Right click My Computer, select Properties.
  • Click Advanced System Settings.
  • Click the Advanced tab. Click Environment Variables.
  • Click New, type following new variable information:
    Variable Name: path
    Variable Value: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0\bin
  • Click OK.
  • Reboot your machine.

Update Windows

Windows need to be updated in order to install bug-fixes, patches. To update Windows, do the steps given below:

  • Click Start.
  • Type “Windows Update” (without quotes) in the Search box. (Right hand side)
  • Open it from the Search Results.
  • Click Check for Updates | Download and Install Updates.
