If you want to use mods and continuously use Minecraft Java version on Windows 10

  1. If you just upgraded from Windows 7/8/8.1 to 10  you might need to uninstall both Java and Minecraft, but if you made a fresh installation then skip this step.
  2. Go to http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp download Java runtime environment and Install it. If you have 32-bit Windows then use Java 32bit (the one that does not state 64bit), if you have x64bit Windows then use Java 64bit. If you are not sure which one of Windows 10 you have, then click on the Start, Control panel, System and security and System. It will tell you whether you are on 32bit or 64bit system.
  3. Download the RegInOut and install it.
  4. Run RegInOut, clean entire system and restart Windows 10
  5. Come back to Windows 10, Install Minecraft as usual.
  6. Run Minecraft as Admin. If it does not work,  right click on Minecraft Icon, Click on the “properties”, when it opens the “properties” Window find the “compatibility” tab and click on it. In the “compatibility” tab, check the checkbox (make a tick), which says, “Run this program in compatibility mode for” and Select Windows 7. Now check again “Run this program as an administrator” and click on the Okay button to save the changes.
  7.   Now run Minecraft. It should work normally.

If you are on Windows 10 and Minecraft crashes without more memory, follow the steps outlined below:

Minecraft uses Java as its runtime environment, Java has a default memory limit, and it can be increased when required.

  1. Go to Start | Control Panel.
  2. Type Java in the Search Control Panel textbox in the top right of Windows Explorer.
  3. Click on the Java icon.
  4. Go to Java Tab.
  5. Click View Button.
  6. Type the Runtime parameters as:

    • -Xincgc -Xmx1024M

If you are on 32bit then use 768M (768MB), if you are on 64bit then use 2G (2GB).

  1. Click okay to save the changes and Restart the System.

If you are on Windows 10 and the game crashes because of the Graphic driver or DirectX, then install the following drivers.

The latest version of Minecraft might require the latest version of the Graphics driver. So make sure you have the latest version of the graphics driver.

  1. Graphics Card Drivers:
    Nvidia

    AMD
  2. DirectX End-User runtime (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109)

If you are on Windows 10 and Minecraft Windows 10 Edition crashes because of the Visual C++ runtime error, then install the following runtime environments.
