Error 137 -- An Error that Can Disturb your Browsing

Error 137 occurs whenever you attempt to browse any website through your Chrome Browser. If you are experiencing similar error during browsing, follow the steps given in this article.

Steps to Resolve Error 137

  • Reset TCP/IP
  • Uninstall and Reinstall Google Chrome
  • Disable NetBIOS on DHCP Server

Reset TCP/IP

Error 137 can be fixed by resetting TCP/IP. You can reset TCP/IP using command available in NetShell utility. Follow the procedure given below to reset TCP/IP.


Note: you can use this command as “netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt” without allocating path.

  • Click on Start | Type Command Prompt in Search Box
  • Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
  • Enter correct Admin login credentials if prompted.
  • Type “netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt” without quotes and press Enter
  • Restart your system

Uninstall and Reinstall Google Chrome

If resetting TCP/IP through above command could not fix error 137, try uninstalling and reinstalling Google Chrome using instructions given below.


  • Close all active programs
  • Click on Start button | Select Control Panel
  • Click on Uninstall a program
  • Select Google Chrome
  • Click on Uninstall
  • Close Control Panel Windows
  • Click on Start again | Type Disk Cleanup
  • Right-click on Disk Cleanup and select Run as Administrator
  • Select Installation Drive | Click on OK
  • Restart your system
  • Download and Install Google Chrome again

Disable NetBIOS on DHCP Server

If error 137 continues to appear after reinstalling Google Chrome, try disabling NetBIOS on DHCP Server by applying instructions given below.

  • Click on Start | Point to Control Panel
  • Click on View Network Status and Tasks under Network and Internet
  • Now Click on Change Adapter Settings
  • Right-click on Local Area Connection | Select Properties
  • In the list double-click on TCP/IPv4
  • Select Advanced | Click on WINS tab
  • Now click on USE NETBIOS SETTINGS FROM THE DHCP SERVER
  • OK | OK | OK
  • Restart your system
