Allow the App through Firewall

Firewall may prevent program interactions. The problem is generally experienced when communications over the Internet are blocked. Any attempts to block communication with overseas server lead IMVU crash.

 

For Windows 8

  • Press the Windows Key.
  • The Start Screen appears.
  • Type “Allow an app through Windows Firewall” in the Search Box.
  • Click the Settings icon.
  • Open it from the Search Results.
  • Control Panel opens with requested page.
  • Click Change Settings | Allow Another App | Browse.
  • Go to the program installation directory, locate IMVUClient.exe file.
  • Confirm and save the settings.
 

Allow the App through DEP

DEP refers to Data Execution Prevention. It is also a security measure. Allow your app to run without DEP security. You won’t experience IMVU crash again.

 
  • Right click My Computer desktop shortcut.
  • Select Properties.
  • Click “Advanced System Settings” link.
  • Click Advanced | Settings (Performance) | Data Execution Prevention.
  • Select the option named “Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select”.
  • Click Add button, locate IMVUClient.exe file from the program installation folder.
  • Click OK twice.
 

Scan System Files

System files corruption is another possibility. Scan all system files with System File Checker utility and check whether the problem still persists.


For Windows 8
 
  • Press the Windows Key.
  • The Start Screen opens. Type “Command Prompt” in the Search Box.
  • Click the Apps icon.
  • Right click Command Prompt, click Run as Administrator icon on the bottom of the screen.
  • Type the following command in the Command Prompt dialog:
    SFC /SCANNOW
 

Clean Temp Files

Temp files are located in different directories. Corruption of these files make IMVU crash problem. Clean them all to fix your problem.


For Windows 8
 
  • Press the Windows Key.
  • Type “Free up disk space by deleting unnecessary files” in the Search Box.
  • Click the Settings icon.
  • Open it from the Search Results.
  • Select system drive (usually, drive C:\) and then click OK.
