Change Server Configurations

At times, the server entry doesn’t appear under the Settings column in the web-based interface. Here’s how to configure the server settings:

  1. Load the web-based interface of Plex app on your server.
  2. Load its local version. Here are sample URLs:
  1. Enter log-in credentials on the sign-in page.
  2. Go to the Server Settings, and then sign-in to your server.

Stop Real-Time Antivirus Protection

The real-time feature of an Antivirus constantly scans running processes and open files that are open for malicious activities. The problem arises when it interferes with genuine tasks like Plex, ultimately resulting in the error under discussion.

To stop an Antivirus’s real-time security feature, follow these instructions:

  1. Click the Upward Arrow (More) in Notification Area of your Taskbar.
  2. Right-click the icon of your Antivirus.
  3. Choose Pause Protection option.
  4. Set a time interval, and then click Confirm.

Re-start VPN

Here’s how to activate the VPN:

  1. Turn off the VPN.
  2. Open Plex Media Player.
  3. Sign-in to the server. To do so, go to Settings | Servers | Connect.
  4. Turn on VPN feature.

Update Plex

Visit the Plex Download Page to obtain the latest version of Plex Media Server.

Sign Out

Sign-out of your Plex account, exit the browser and log-in it again.

Run Plex Media Server

Make sure that the Plex Media Server is currently running. Plex streaming error occurs when the Plex Media Server isn’t running in the background.

Turn off VPN

You may encounter problems when VPN is enabled on your computer’s router. Turning off this feature might make a positive difference. Try it out.

Turn off Proxy

You might be using proxies to access the internet and they might be the actual stumbling block. Configure the system settings and disable them.

  1. Type inetcpl.cpl in the Search Box.
  2. Open it from the Search Results.
  3. You have Internet Properties dialog on your screen.
  4. Click the Connections tab.
  5. Click the LAN Settings button.
  6. In the parent dialog, uncheck the Use a proxy server for your LAN box.
  7. Finally, save your settings by clicking OK | OK.

Check Secure Connection Settings

Your computer is configured to use a secure connection on the Internet, however, the application you’re currently using doesn’t support it. Disable the need to connect through a secure connection.

Activate Remote Access

Make sure that the remote access has been successfully activated from the Internet servers.

  1. Go to the Plex Services.
  2. Enable remote access to a server.

Use Common Local Network

Are you using the Plex application and Plex media server over a common network? If not, choose a common network for both of them.
